$50,000 OF VALUABLE PRODUCT GIVEAWAYS DISTRIBUTED AS PART OF THE 2017 "MANUFACTURERS NIGHTS" PRESENTED BY MSD FOR SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODELS AT TRI-CITY & WINCHESTER
By Mike Leone
September 20, 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Pulaski, PA)...On back-to-back nights, August 19-20, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series presented a pair of "Manufacturers Nights" presented by MSD Performance. Winchester (VA) Speedway hosted the new "traveling" night for Mid-Atlantic racers on August 19, while Tri-City Raceway Park again hosted the annual region wide night as a Sweeney Touring Series event on August 20. Over $50,000 in valuable products alone were distributed during these two events!
Tri-City was again chosen to host the highly-anticipated "Manufacturers Night" event. With the speedway's central location in accordance to the majority of the Series other sanctioned tracks in Franklin, Pa. along with the fact that two Sunday night speedways, Eriez and Bradford, graciously forego their RUSH race card to accommodate the racers, a perfect scenario was created to allow more RUSH racers to participate in the event.
A season high 48 cars turned out from all over Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, and Delaware for the sixth annual "Manufacturers Night" presented by MSD Performance as nearly $50,000 in cash and contingencies were distributed. Each of the six "Manufacturers Nights" at Sharon Speedway (2012), Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway (2013), McKean County Raceway (2014), Eriez Speedway (2015), and Tri-City (2016-2017) have all drawn a minimum of 40 cars. Each racer received a minimum of one prize valued at $300 with up to the grand prize of $1,800. Several racers received multiple prizes.
While Mike Pegher, Jr. came out on top for the $2,000 race event victory, defending champion, John Waters, left with the grand prize from TBM Brakes; four F3 Tornado Brake Calipers valued at $1,800. Waters' teammate, Steve LeBarron, was also a lucky winner of one of the major prizes in the Lincoln Electric Power Mig 140C Welder and Utility Cart valued at $700. Brian Swank was not only the winning car owner for Pegher, but as a driver Swank won the second major prize in a full custom drivers suit compliments of Velocita-USA, worth $1,000.
The new "traveling" Manufactures Night was formatted different as only drivers in the top 15 of track points at Delaware, Potomac, and Winchester Speedways were eligible for the $13,000 of product that was given away at Winchester on August 19. Richard Hawkins won the grand prize- a Holley LTS 4150 Aluminum Ultra XP 650 CFM carburetor valued at $780 and also won a package of four VB Standard Coil Springs from Landrum Performance Springs bringing his total to $1,080!
"As RUSH continues to grow we realize that it's tough for many of our racers on the outer lying areas to get to our annual Manufacturers Night," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "The event has moved around over the years, and we try to schedule it at a location and date when as many racers as possible can attend, but we know there are many that cannot; thus the traveling Manufacturers Night. This traveling Manufacturers Night will also become an annual event and will be a great way to reach out to these sanctioned speedways and their racers to show that we greatly appreciate their support."
"The Mid-Atlantic region has really grown over the past few years," continued Emig. "Winchester and Potomac are in their fourth year under the RUSH banner and with the addition of Delaware plus Georgetown's races, this has really spurred the growth. August 19 was a Battle of the Bay event, so Delaware was not racing allowing their eligible racers to participate in this night."
"We have to thank all of our great marketing partners that have continued to support our efforts over the years and who have made this second night possible for our Late Models along with the other four Manufacturers Night events for our other divisions on both dirt and asphalt," added Emig. "The most important thing I can ask our racers is that they in turn support these sponsors by utilizing their quality products in their racing operations."
All of the RUSH "Official" Sponsors were major contributors to the events, the balance of the product were made up from various companies that feel it is a great way to have a presence within RUSH. The complete list of prizes, the winners, and donors are posted below.
