2014 SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL “MANUFACTURERS NIGHT” AT MCKEAN A SUCCESS; 43 DRIVERS SHARE IN OVER $40,000 OF CASH & PRODUCT PRIZES

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series traveled to McKean County Raceway last Saturday night for “Manufacturers Night”. Despite a forecast of 60-80% chance of thunderstorms, a season high 43 drivers from all over Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, and Ontario, Canada participated in the third annual event, but the first at the East Smethport, Pa. facility as over $40,000 in cash and product prizes were distributed.
It was a big night for Joe Martin, who not only won his first career Sweeney RUSH Touring Series event worth $1,500, but also captured several contingency prizes. The Mayport, Pa. driver was the lucky recipient of a new custom driver’s suit from Velocita-USA valued at $1,000. Martin was also awarded Driven Oil’s “Slick Move of the Night worth a Driven Racing Oil Race Wax, Driven Racing Oil Speed Clean and $50 certificate. Martin, as well as all competing drivers, also received a gift certificate for a box of 200 custom tearoffs from Ultra Shield Race Products.
"I really appreciate all of the gifts tonight," expressed the 29-year-old race winner racer. "I have to thank Mike (Leone) and Vicki (Emig) for what they do for RUSH. Tonight is a big deal. I don't know anyone in the country that does something like this.”
All 43 racers won at least two product prizes, 34 racers received at least three prizes, and a few were lucky enough to win four or even five prizes! Keizer Aluminum Wheels provided the bottom 20 finishes with a $50 certificate toward the purchase of a wheel.
While Bruno Mowery failed to make the feature finishing second in the non-qualifier race, he left with McKean as the night’s biggest prize winner. The Allegany, Pa. driver won the grand prize from Alternative Power Sources- the $2,200 EF40000DE/D Yamaha Electric Start Generator and wheel kit, the "all-star utility infielder" of the Yamaha generator! Mowery also won a Pro Model SA-2010 flat black racing helmet from RaceQuip, 200 tearoffs from Ultra Shield, and the $50 certificate from Keizer! His prizes were worth well over $2,500!
Jason Knowles was another driver who had a huge night! The New York racer recorded his career best Sweeney Tour finish with a second place and won the second grand prize drawing of four F3 Tornado “Anniversary Edition” Brake Calipers from TBM Brakes valued at $1,800. Knowles also won a $50 off a fender nose combo kit from ARbodies and of course the 200 tearoffs from Ultra Shield.
“We really couldn’t have been more pleased with how the night turned out,” explained RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig. “The weather held off for us, we had a great turnout of cars, a new winner, and McKean promoter Chris Zuver and staff were very accommodating for this great event. The racers continue to turnout and support this event as we’ve averaged over 43 cars in the three events despite the weather and several other events taking place.”
