(Boardman, OH)…Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, the branding sponsor of the RUSH Racing Series, is pleased to announce that Don Blackshear has been appointed the Circle Track Director of Operations for its subsidiary and motorsports division, Pace Performance.

The 51-year-old Florida native, who calls Brookfield, Ohio home, is a well-respected individual in the motorsports industry from his hall of fame background in drag racing, to building open engines for many of the top racers in western Pa. and eastern Ohio over the years, to previously being an authorized NeSmith and RUSH rebuilder, and most recently has led the development of the GM 602 and CT525 crate engines in Sprint Cars.

Blackshear has over 35 years of designing, machining and assembling championship and race winning engine combinations. "Don's experience combined with his ability to design components and think outside of the box in engine development, we feel this makes him the perfect choice for this position," said Pace Performance General Manager Chuck Fitch.

Blackshear’s first unofficial appearance came back in November at the Parts Peddler Show in Syracuse, NY where RUSH displayed alongside the Pace Performance booth.  Since then Blackshear has represented Pace at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis in December, the Midwest Speed Expo in Springfield, IL in early January, and the upcoming Motorsports Race Car & Trade Show near Philadelphia.

“From our perspective Don brings a wealth of knowledge to this important position,” explained RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “I’ve known Don for close to 20 years.  He was an asset to my tech department throughout my 11-year tenure at Mercer Raceway Park, and also had been part of our rebuild program for several years.  As RUSH has grown, so have the opportunities for Pace Performance, and Don's new position will certainly help meld together our efforts as both our rebuilders and racers will now have a direct contact at Pace for their needs.”
