TRI-CITY TO HOST $45,000 RUSH LATE MODEL MFG NIGHT PRESENTED BY MSD SUNDAY; $2000 TO-WIN SWEENEY TOUR EVENT ALSO TO BE FEATURED

(Franklin, PA)…After two weekends off, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series resumes action in a big way this Sunday evening (August 14) at Tri-City Raceway Park for the popular "Manufacturers Night" presented by MSD Performance. Not only will the event be a "Marquee" Tour event paying $2,000 to-win, but over $35,000 in products will be distributed as each participating racer will take home a valuable prize!
Throughout the years, Series director Vicki Emig has strategically scheduled "Manufacturers Night" at various speedways throughout the region to ensure that all RUSH racers get an opportunity to participate in the event at some point. Sunday marks the fifth annual "Manufacturers Night", but first time ever held at Tri-City. Emig also ensures that each racer at the events walk away with an item valued at the very minimum of $200. Past locations with car counts in parentheses are Sharon Speedway in 2012 (57), Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway in 2013 (40), McKean County Raceway in 2014 (43), and Eriez Speedway in 2015 (47). As the Series has grown so has the value of "Manufacturers Night"; the inaugural event in 2012 distributed $20,000 as the 2016 edition is set to exceed over $45,000 in cash and contingencies.
Three of the major prizes Sunday include a Yamaha Electric Start Generator and Wheel Kit from Alternative Power Sources ($2,200 value), four F3 Tornado Brake Calipers from TBM Brakes ($1,800) value, and a full custom driver’s suit from Velocita-USA ($1,000). Companies such as Beyea Headers, MSD Performance, FK Rod Ends, and ARbodies have stepped up as Major Contingency Sponsors to offer over $1,500 in prizes for the night. What makes “Manufacturers Nights” unique and such a valuable promotional event for both the hosting RUSH-sanctioned speedway and their racers is that the racers receive actual products and not certificates toward the purchase of products. Any certificates of that type that are given by manufacturers are dispersed over and above the actual product giveaways. Combined, the Series' four individual "Manufacturers Night" events for each of the divisions will disperse over $70,000 of extremely useful items to the race teams! Couple that with the other numerous RUSH contingency programs and RUSH racers will collect over $106,000 in actual product for their efforts throughout the 2016 race season.

Matt Latta has been participating in the annual “Manufacturers Night” ever since it began. “I love it,” he said. “It’s a huge help for the teams. Let’s face it, everyone knows about the financial difficulties involved with racing. You have good years and some bad years. We’ve been fortunate enough to win sheet metal, an ARbodies nose kit, and $500 Rocket certificate in recent years. Vicki has designed it so every driver leaves with something; no one walks away empty handed. Vicki and Mike (Leone) understand that every little piece helps their teams and to offer these types of items helps us greatly. It also helps them (sponsors) by getting more business down the road from the drivers who have been helped or received prizes from them.”
Sunday will be Tri-City's third event of the season. The Sweeney Tour appeared at the Franklin, Pa. oval on June 19 with Bryce Davis capturing his first ever win at the track, worth $2,000. Tri-City held their second event less than two weeks ago on July 31 as a big crowd watched the RUSH Late Models coupled with the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars as Mike Pegher, Jr. got by Max Blair on a late race restart for the $1,000 Sweeney Weekly Series victory.
Davis, who has won three of the last five events, leads the Sweeney Tour to Tri-City with an eight-point lead over two-time winner, John Waters. The Knowles Brothers, Jason and Brian, have moved into third and fourth in points as the duo both look for their first career Tour wins. Will Thomas III, who finished second at the last Tri-City Tour race, is fifth in points as Dave Lyon, Eric Wilson, Bruce Hordusky, Jr., Mike Pegher, Jr., and Alan Dellinger complete the top 10.
Bobby Lake Motorsports "Shock the Clock Qualifying and Beat the Heat" will be utilized meaning the fastest qualifier will receive $100 and all heat race winners will earn $25. The K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash will be run paying a $100 K&N certificate to win, $50 K&N certificate for second with $25 cash for third and fourth place. The K&N Dash will also set the beginning of the 30-lap feature lineup for the top two finishers in the heat races if there are less than five heats or for the heat winners if there are five or more heats.
Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase.
RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that exhibits a performance worthy of such. The winner will receive a free case of either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing Oil of your choice. In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1 clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt. You do not have to a member of RUSH to compete. The red AMB transponders are required at Tri-City. RACEceivers are always mandatory. The entry fee is $100. Pit passes are $35. Pits open at 3 p.m. with warm-ups slated for 5:20 followed by Late Model qualifying at 5:45 and racing at 6.
