HUGE WEEK FOR SWEENEY RUSH SERIES WITH LM & MOD TOUR DOUBLEHEADER WEDNESDAY AT EXPO & $2000 TO-WIN NORTHERN LM TOUR SUNDAY AT HUMBERSTONE

By Mike Leone

July 13, 2015               FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)...The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series has a busy week in store with three Touring Series events on tap.  Wednesday will feature the Series’ first ever Tour doubleheader with a Bazell/Sunoco Race Fuels Southern Late Model Touring event along with the inaugural Bicknell Racing Products Sportsman Modified Touring race at Expo Speedway at the Trumbull County Fair.  Then on Sunday, action heads north across the border to Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada for a Insinger Performance/Sunoco Race Fuels Northern Late Model Touring Series event.

The Trumbull County Fair hosts their annual racing program at the 5/8-mile Expo Speedway in Cortland, Ohio on Wednesday.  Remember, racing begins early at the fair with heats at 6 PM due to no lights!  This year, the Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modifieds join the Late Models for the first time at Expo in their inaugural Bicknell Touring Series event.  The Late Model portion will pay $1,500 to-win, while the Sportsman Modifieds race for $600 to-win.  Both events will not only count toward its respective Touring Series, but also Sweeney Weekly Series points will be on the line for those member racers.

It's been typical for the Late Model races to come right down to the wire with exciting finishes in front of the huge crowd in the covered grandstands.  Past winners include Bobby Powell (2008), Russell King (2011 & 2013), and Will Thomas III (2012), and Max Blair (2009-2010, 2014).

The Sweeney RUSH Sportsman Modifieds are in their second year of operation and with car counts increasing, the Bicknell Touring Series was added this year.  Twenty-two different cars have hit the track this year with six different Bicknell Weekly Series winners in 10 races including Greg Martin with four, Nick Ritchey with two, and single victories to Adam Hilton, Rocky Kugel, Les Myers, and Kole Holden.

“Expo has always been a fun event for everyone,” stated RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “It’s a great atmosphere with the fair going on and the fan support is always great.  We have to thank Bud Rogers and the rest of the fairboard for continuing to allow us to bring our show to the Trumbull County Fair and this year allow our Sportsman Modifieds the opportunity to also race.”

Sunday’s Insinger/Sunoco Late Model Northern Tour event at Humberstone is the annual “Canadian National Late Model Championship” and will again pay $2,000 to-win!  It'll be part of the Bobby Lake Motorsports “Shock the Clock & Beat the Heat” format meaning the fast qualifier will receive $100 and each heat race winner will pocket $25!  Also, the K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash will be run to set the first four starting spots of the feature paying $100 K&N certificate to win, $50 K&N certificate for second, and $25 cash for third and fourth spot.

Dennis Lunger, Jr. has had a lock on Sweeney Weekly Series competition this year at the Port Colborne, Ontario oval, which is located less than 20 minutes from Buffalo.  Lunger has won four straight races and seven of eight this season!  The only time he didn’t win was a runner-up to Rob Pietz on May 24.

“Humberstone has been a great partner of ours over the years,” stated RUSH Co-Director Mike Leone.  “We always look forward to our annual Touring race at Humberstone as it’s always one of the best races of the season on the high-banked, racey track.  Humberstone runs an efficient and professional operation, and has been an important pillar to allow for the growth of RUSH throughout Canada and New York.  The facility is also closer than most realize for many racers throughout western New York, northeast Pennsylvania, and northeast Ohio.”

Blair enters the week still in control of the $10,000 pot of gold for the sweep of the Bazell/Sunoco Southern Tour, the Insinger/Sunoco Northern Tour, and the Sweeney Combined Late Model Touring Series titles.  The Centerville, Pa. driver has yet to finish worse than third in any of the point events to date with three victories.  Blair leads Brian Knowles by 51 points in the Southern Tour, 25 over Bryce Davis in the Northern Tour, and 85 over Jason Knowles in the Combined Tour points heading into the week.  The complete point standings are posted below.

Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the "Pedal Down" Hard Charger that passes the most cars in all three Series events.  The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate for a discount off any TBM Brakes purchase at each event.  CrateInsinder.com will award a $25 gift certificate to the driver finishing last on the lead lap.

At all three events for both Series, RUSH Officials will choose the "Maxima Performance" Award for a driver that exhibits a performance worthy of such.  The winner will receive a free case of either Maxima Semi-Syn High Performance Racing Oil or Maxima Performance Racing Oil of your choice.  In addition, the winner will receive one can of SC-1 clear coat, one 16-oz bottle of Maxima Cool-Aide concentrate, one 32-oz quart of Maxima PSF power steering fluid, and a Maxima t-shirt.  The value of this prize package is $170!

For the Sportsman Modified Series, RUSH Officials will determine the Sherwood Racing Wheels "Man of Steel" award winner as one that bounced back from an earlier mishap to finish the event strongly.  The selected driver will receive a certificate for a free Sherwood Racing Wheel.
