June 14, 2018             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…Despite r
ain still being present around the region, this past weekend was one of the better ones of the 2018 season as most of the tracks that had action scheduled were able to complete them.  A couple had to fight to get their second race programs of the season in.  Three drivers picked up their season's first wins, while several repeated.

The weekend started early at Batavia, New York’s Genesee Speedway with at a special Thursday night race event for the RUSH Late Models just five days after the Sweeney Tour event.  Bill Holmes returned to his mount after a week off and dominated the 25-lap $1,000 to-win special.  Holmes held on to a healthy lead over runner up Beamer Guzzardi for the length of the event.  Besides holding off Guzzardi, Holmes first visit to victory lane in nearly two years saw him besting Tour regulars John Waters (from 15th), JJ Mazur and Jason Knowles.  Action returns to Genesee on Saturday, June 16.

Friday at Raceway 7, Darrell Bossard doubled his efforts winning his second in three tries this season in the RUSH Late Models.  Starting on the front row, Bossard led from the green and held on for the win, besting Kyle Zimmerman, Breyton Santee, Damian Bidwell and newcomer Michael Duritsky.  Racing returns to the Conneaut, Ohio track on Friday (June 15) when the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will make their first appearance since 2014 along with the RUSH Late Models.

Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, Noah Brunell picked up his first ever victory at the storied Sarver, Pennsylvania oval in the RUSH Pro Stocks. Brunell held off a stacked field including three-time winner Tyler Dietz, five-time champion Corey McPherson, Ryan Moyer and Joey Zambotti.  Action returns to Lernerville this Friday for Mid-Season Championships.

A RUSH Series doubleheader was on tap Saturday night at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway when the weekly RUSH Late Models were joined by the visiting RUSH Sportsman Modifieds.  Neither division disappointed the fans.  Garrett Krummert moved from his sixth starting spot in the Sportsman Modified feature event, overtaking leader Jacob Jordan on the eighth circuit and held on for the win over Josh Deems, Jordan, Rocky Kugel and Justin Shea.  It was Krummert's second Bicknell Weekly Series win of 2018 as he has the early points leader.  Jordan's third place was his career best effort in RUSH.

In Late Model action, Daryl Charlier secured his second win in a row on the season and did it from his 11th place starting position.  Charlier overtook defending champion Justin Lamb.  Lamb was second for the second straight week.  Christian Schneider, Garret Paugh and John Mollick rounded out the top five.  PPMS returns to action this Saturday featuring another RUSH doubleheader as the Sportsman Modifieds again makes an appearance at the speedway.

Mike Laughard helped Dog Hollow Speedway usher in a new race night on Saturday as he celebrated his first win of the season as the Strongstown, Pennsylvania oval moved to its new race night for the foreseeable future. Laughard led all of the 20 laps besting Joe Moyer, Troy Shields, Clate Copeman and Mike Ott.  Racing returns to Dog Hollow this Saturday.

At NY's Fulton Speedway, Sean Beardsley finally claimed his first victory of the season in the RUSH Late Model division at Fulton Speedway driving the Dick Parkhurst effort.  Beardsley has been close all year, but Saturday night was his moment as he took the lead on lap 16 after a fierce battle between himself and Jason Parkhurst. Once out front though, Beardsley stretched his lead to over a second and a half over Parkhurst. Bret Belden, Kevan Cook and Max Hill finished third through fifth.  Fulton returns with a full race card this Saturday.

The RUSH Sprint Cars made their first of two appearances to Stateline Speedway located just across the Pa. border in Busti, NY.  It will an all Sprint Car show as the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars made their first visit in 48 years!  A great crowd turned out despite questionable weather.  A few very light showers fell, while the heavier rain held off until just after the final checkered flag at 9:10 p.m.  Chad Ruhlman of nearby Bemus Point, NY made it three wins in three tries as he led all 20 laps for the $600 victory.  Points leader Gale Ruth, Jr. was a close second over Arnie Kent.  Zach Morrow came on late charging forward for fourth as Mike Lutz completed the top five.  The RUSH Sprints will return to Stateline on June 30 for another $600 to-win program.  Stateline is off this Saturday night due to their World of Outlaws Late Model program on Thursday.

Saturday at Jennerstown Speedway in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania, the three divisions running under the RUSH Asphalt Racing Series banner saw multiple time winners once again gracing victory lane. All-time leading Late Model winner Barry Awtey, added another win to his resume edging out Jeremiah Kuntz, Teddy Gibala, Brian Shipp and Gary Wiltrout.  Anthony Aiello picked up his second win of the season in the RUSH Modifieds.  Aiello topped Chris Brink, Jason Busch, longtime competitor Gary Scott and Tom Golick.  Josh Coughenour double up his win total for the year in the RUSH Street Stocks over Zac Todaro, Aaron VanFleet, Rick Meelieb and Mel Wilt.  Jennerstown returns this Saturday with a five-division show and Autograph Night.

Sunday night at Eriez Speedway, the Sweeney RUSH Late Model Touring Series was on hand for a $2,000-to-win race and Max Blair was the man to beat.  After setting fast time around the Erie County, Pennsylvania oval, Blair went on to win his heat and finish second in the dash. Blair put on a spirited side-by-side battle for 12 laps with Jeremy Wonderling, then took the lead for good on lap 21 and went on to win his second tour race of the season.  Wonderling, Darrell Bossard, Jason Genco and Jason Knowles scored the top five.

The RUSH Touring Series is back in action this Sunday (June 17) at Franklin, Pennsylvania’s Tri-City Raceway Park for the $2,000 to-win "Bill Emig Memorial".  Eriez has given the RUSH Late Models the night off so they can support this show.  The RUSH Sprint Cars will also be on the card in their first appearance.

Like Eriez, Humberstone Speedway was also able to beat Mother Nature.  The Port Colborne, Ontario oval completed their third program of the season on Sunday night with Chad Homan victorious.  The Macedon, NY driver now has 10 wins at Humberstone since June 2016!  Homan started on the front row and wasn't to be denied beating out Sam Pennacchio, Rob Pietz, David Pangrazio, and Jeff Dayman.  The RUSH Late Models will have the night off this Sunday.

Friday night tracks Potomac Speedway in Maryland and Outlaw Speedway in NY will both return to racing action this week.

The RUSH Late Models return to the racing card at Winchester Speedway, McKean County Family Raceway and Delaware International Speedway this Saturday, June 16.  Delaware will also have the RUSH Late Models in action on Tuesday, June 19 for a $750 to-win program.

Both Sharon and Bradford Speedways fell to rain.  The RUSH Sportsman Modifieds will be at Sharon on Tuesday, June 19 for a $500 to-win event with the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars as part of Ohio Speedweek.  The RUSH Late Models have still yet to complete an event at Bradford this season, while the RUSH Pro Mods only have one show in.
