RAIN WASHES OUT NIGHT 3 OF THE “BATTLE OF THE BAY” SPEEDWEEK
PRESENTED BY WEHRS ON FRIDAY AT POTOMAC
April 19, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
(Mechanicsville, MD)...After two ultra-successful nights to open
the second annual “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek presented by Wehrs Machine &
Racing Parts with 53 and 50 cars at Delaware International and Georgetown
Speedways respectively for the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model
Touring Series, Mother Nature temporarily put a halt to Max Blair’s win streak
on Friday night. With 100%
likelihood of heavy thunderstorms throughout the day and night, officials at
Potomac Speedway pulled the plug early to save teams from unnecessarily
traveling to the southern Maryland clay oval.
It marked the third straight Friday night that Potomac has succumbed to
Mother Nature.
The “Battle of the Bay” Speedweek will resume on Saturday evening at Winchester
(VA) Speedway where the sunshine and temps in the mid-60s are forecasted.
Last year, Logan Roberson ended Speedweek victorious at both Potomac and
Winchester Speedways for his first career Tour wins.
Roberson enters the night with two top five finishes and currently sits
third in the “Battle of the Bay” standings behind leader Max Blair and Ross
Robinson. In 2018, Roberson captured
the $1,000 “Battle of the Bay” title by just one-point over Blair and two points
over Robinson! In the three Sweeney
Weekly Series events at Winchester this season, Roberson has won two features
and finished runner-up to Dale Hollidge.
On Saturday at Winchester, pit passes will go on sale at 2 p.m.
The drivers meeting will take place at 5 p.m. with RUSH Late Model
warm-ups at 5:30 followed by FK Rod Ends “Shock the Clock” Qualifying and heat
races. The 30-lap feature will pay
$3,000 to-win, while $200 will again go to the winner of the Non-Qualifier.
ARC Racing and Round Hill Auto Service will present the “$500 Club” with
five $100 drawings to drivers in the top 15 of Winchester track points.
