BAZELL/SUNOCO RACE FUELS TO PRESENT SOUTHERN TOURING SERIES FOR SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODELS IN 2015

By Mike Leone

May 4, 2015             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)…The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series is proud to announce Bazell Race Fuels, a distributor of Sunoco Race Fuels, will present the new Southern Touring Series in 2015.  The Bazell/Sunoco Race Fuels Southern Tour Champion will receive $4,000 as will the Insinger Performance/Sunoco Race Fuels Northern Tour Champion.  The overall Sweeney Tour Champion will also receive $2,000 meaning one Touring driver could win $10,000 in 2015!

The 12-event Bazell/Sunoco Race Fuels Southern Touring Series got underway on April 18 at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex where Max Blair picked up the opening night honors.  Blair is one of several drivers chasing after the $10,000 carrot.  Blair’s sixth career Sweeney Tour win tied Ryan Montgomery for the most all-time.  Ironically, Montgomery, the defending Series Champion, finished second.

The Series resumes action this Friday and Saturday, May 8-9 for the second annual “Mid-Atlantic States Classic” to be held at Potomac and Winchester Speedways.  Each event will pay $2,000 to-win.  The Winchester event will be an excellent tune-up for the inaugural “Crate Racin’ USA Nationals” on June 12-13 where one driver could win well over $7,000!  The Friday program will see twin $1,000 to-win “Bill Hendren Memorial” qualifiers and the $500 to-win “Miles Traveled” event before Saturday’s $6,000 to-win main event and $1,500 to-win non-qualifier.

Other speedway hosting action in the Bazell/Sunoco Race Fuels Southern Region include Wayne County Speedway in Orrville Ohio (three), Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. (two), Expo Speedway in Cortland, Ohio, Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, and Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa.  Approximately $25,000 has been posted to win for these events plus the GM 604 engine valued at $5,700 that will be given away on July 4 at Wayne County.  The complete schedule is posted below.

“With our entire region now encompassing an expanse of 600 miles from the far north in Brighton, Ontario, Canada to the far south in Mechanicsville, Maryland, we felt the time was right to split our Touring Series into two regions,” explained RUSH Co-Director Vicki Emig.  “The response from the racers and speedway promoters has been great.  It’ll allow more drivers to chase after money and rewards those who do well in both.  We have to thank Bazell Race Fuels in the South and Insinger Performance in the North , both Sunoco Race Fuel distributors, for bringing the additional funding to our series to make this concept possible.”

Sunoco Race Fuels is entering its third season as the “Official Fuel of the RUSH Late Models”.  Sunoco’s GT 260 has been popular with racers throughout the region winning numerous races and championships.  In fact, Kyle Lukon received an added $500 bonus for becoming the first driver to win a Sweeney Tour event on the fuel back when he won his first career Tour event at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway back in 2013.  Also, 50 drivers also took advantage of the offer for five gallons of the fuel free of charge when they purchased at least 10 gallons.

Sunoco also sponsored the purchase of an electronic fuel hydrometer for RUSH in 2013.  The state-of-the-art tool is utilized to check the oxygen content that is in the fuel.  Sunoco has also offered their expertise and full support to both RUSH Competition Director Travis Harry and RUSH weekly-sanctioned speedway tech officials in any and all fuel technical issues that may occur.

“Bazell Race Fuels and Sunoco along with the RUSH Dirt Late Model Series look forward to informing all the Crate Late Model racers throughout the region that there are options out there for their racing fuel,” stated Brian Bazell, Division Manager of Bazell Race Fuels.  “The fuels that we offer perform as well or better than the other high-priced fuels put on the market by other companies.”

Bazell went on to say, “Vicki and our company have done business together for several years, and we feel very confident that Vicki along with Mike Leone will continue to make RUSH successful.  With this said we feel that this is where we need to invest our resources to not only help the Series, but also help the racers.  Sunoco Race Fuels has a long history of producing the most competitive and consistent fuels in the industry as well as supporting many sanctioning bodies across all types of motorsports.”
